Lego Town Hall

For some reason this one flew under my radar. I usually keep a close eye on new Lego releases but somehow I completely missed the new Town Hall set. I didn't find out about it until the day it was released! Last year, when the Pet Shop and Brownstone were released I was at my local Lego store that day! But fortunately for me my local store had plenty of Town Halls in stock when I went to pick it up last week. Upon arriving home I wasn't able to even start construction for another few days due to work and other responsibilities, but once I finally did the build went fast. This is another great modular building set from Lego, and it does a great job continuing to add more and more interior details.

Except for the columns the outside of the building is a little bland compared to the last few releases (it is more or less just a rectangular box without a lot of architectural details) but the interior really shines in this set. Included are a speaking hall, tax collection office, working elevator, mayor's office and lobby and conference room. Just like in the previous set I feel like the interior was fully fleshed out.

First floor, one of the highest floors we've had in the modular buildings

Some of the walls don't go all the way to the ceiling, but if they did I'd have a hard time getting my hands in there!

Second floor Mayor's office and lobby. It has a nice overlook into the bottom floor.
Third floor conference room, again nice details like the plant and globe.
Due to the working elevator there is actually a split in the walls all the way down the building. You would think this would affect the structural integrity but it actually holds up really well.

The columns really stand out well and remind me of the Courthouse in Back to the Future.
I am really glad to see that Lego is continuing to raise the bar with the modular buildings, each one has seemed to surpass the last. The Town Hall is by far the largest of any of the buildings available and I have a feeling this trend will continue into the future. Things are looking bright!

Lego continues their trend of adding skylights so the interiors aren't so dark.

  1. This is a very nice set. Actually knew about it a month ago and wanted it, but I have no space! Wife and I would have built it and changed the "1891" to "2008" which is the year we got married and suitably, there's a wedding couple in the set too. =)

  2. This has been out for quite a while now. I got it and I do enjoy it. I love all the little details and the working lift inside the building. How long did it take you to build this? I hope it's not months!

    1. I'm really enjoying the interior details as well, they make the buildings much more complete. Once I finally had time to work on it the whole project only took me about six hours :D
