A Random Find

So I went back to my hometown this past weekend to visit family and decided to go on a little hunt. The wife and I perused the local yard sales without much luck but when we reached The Flea Market (and I say that because it is the only flea market in my entire town) we hit the motherload! I nabbed quite a few G2 figures that I will be highlighting later. But it didn't end there...

When we were talking to one of the flea market vendors she told us there was a comic convention taking place that very same day in a different part of town! So we decide to go over to check it out. Upon arriving we discovered it was mostly vintage comic books, but in true fashion, there were a few toy dealers there, all of which had Transformers. I nabbed this little beauty for a steal:

And there were quite a few other items I would have purchased, but I'm saving my money for something else :) So, long story short, I go home for the weekend and come back with a buttload of Transformers! I guess it helps when there aren't very many Transformer collectors in your hometown. Unfortunately my current town is so flooded with collectors that there is no way I could score items at these prices, first world problems am I right?

So now all I have to do is decide whether I want to keep Thunder Clash MISB or open him so I can have a complete MIB version. And what to do with my loose Thunder Clash missing the gun? Decisions, decisions.

  1. That is an awesome find. You could just keep the loose one in vehicle mode.

  2. Wow....Thunder Clash....that guy takes me back. That is a tough call....a fun call, but a tough call.

I'll be anxious to see what else you picked up from the G2 era!

    1. It is pretty amazing, especially how the whole thing transpired.

  3. You lucky dog! I've been venturing to estate and yard sales all summer and haven't found "A" toy, let alone many toys of any franchise... killer find indeed!

    1. Thanks! That was the primary reason I stopped going to yard sales, after a while there just wasn't anything to be found. But you get lucky sometimes :)

  4. Congrats man, such a nice find. I don't particularly care for this piece, but the whole experience just sounds enchanting and gives hope to people that surprise and delightful finds are still possible in this day and age.

I used to go to a flea market like that too, from 1999 to 2002, and then they shut the place down and moved to a new location. It was never the same anymore...

    1. Oh yeah. The flea markets of the mid '90's were the best. When everyone was selling nothing but G1's cause that is all there was and everything was a reasonable price...good times.

    2. yeah, and those times, only the early year G1s were expensive, 87 and later were cheap as chips cos no one wanted them!
