Prime Vehicon, like the elusive Aardwolf

Not an Aardwolf
If you've never heard of the Aardwolf, don't feel bad. They tend to be very difficult to find in nature and resemble a hyena crossed with a wolf. Apparently they are called Aardwolfs because their diet consists of almost nothing but termites, much like Aardvarks. But the point is, they are ridiculously hard to find in the wild, much like the Transformers Prime Vehicon.

If you or someone you know is trying to find a Vehicon at retail, I feel for you. I personally know a lot of collectors who are literally pulling out their hair trying to find this figure and unfortunately the odds are not in their favor. First off the figure is only one per case of eight figures (two more of which I believe are Bumblebee!). Second the figure is a troop-builder due to its nondescript status and how it is portrayed in the Prime TV show. And third it is an excellently designed figure, making it just that much more desirable. Seriously, if almost all of the other PRID figures have been a disappointment, this is the shining light at the end of the tunnel as far as engineering goes.

Beautiful car mode
Personally I did not get mine at retail because I knew that was never going to be a reality. I pre-ordered the wave 3 set from BBTS in order to obtain him. Of course this means I also had to get Knock-Out and Hot Shot as well, but that is another story altogether. In lieu of finding any more of the deluxe figures at retail I was able to score a couple of legend-class Vehicons to bump up my Decepticon numbers. These figures are of course smaller and simpler in transformation, but they are still fun toys. Unfortunately something that gives me pause about these is the 'deluxe' figure really isn't that much larger than the legend figure in vehicle mode. This seems to be a recent trend with Hasbro and it worries me about how far it may go.

  1. I had to get mine the same way. We haven't seen anything past wave 1 on the shelves here yet.

    1. Smart man. It's rare if I buy anything off the shelves anymore.

  2. I've seen the Wave a lot. I've never seen Vehicon. It is very possible to get one out in the "wild", but the timing has to be spot on.

    1. I don't know what it is, but I've just become frustrated by "the hunt" lately. Maybe I'm just getting old.

    1. Yeah, they did a great job with this guy. I wonder why all the other figures suffer so much?
